Grandma & Me
by Brian Copeland
Directed by David Ford
Raising a child alone is a struggle; raising multiple children alone is an odyssey. Copeland knows this better than most — because he’s experienced it from both sides. In 1979, Copeland’s mother died suddenly, leaving him and four siblings in the care of his 57-year-old grandmother to raise on her own. 22 years later, Brian finds himself in the same spot when a divorce leaves him as the sole provider for his three children. Copeland compares and contrasts the trials and triumphs of single parenting in the 1970s and the 2000s, all while trying to answer the question of what it truly means to be a father. A thought-provoking solo performance that will have you laughing, crying and highly entertained. Join us for a reading and your feedback is encouraged after it’s over…Director David Ford will be leading the discussion.
