River Navaille

River (they, them) is an actor, director, and educator local to the Monterey Bay, Rumsen Ohlone, and Esselen lands. They have performed as Adult Alison in Fun Home, Heather Chandler in Heathers: The Musical, the title role in Mary Poppins, and Eliante in School for Lies (Pacific Repertory Theatre), Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet (MPC Theatre Company), and Clarice in The Liar (The Western Stage). River was assistant director for Comedy of Tenors (The Western Stage) and Enter the Guardsman and A Streetcar Named Desire (Jewel Theatre Company) and directed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] (Paraphrase Productions). They teach acting, theatre, and media studies at Hartnell College. River founded Seaside High School Dramatic Arts, where they directed over a dozen productions in unconventional performance spaces. It was awarded a grant from the R.I.S.E. (Recognizing and Inspiring Student Expression) America program co-sponsored by NBC and the Educational Theatre Foundation. They are full of gratitude to their community, family, partner, Casting Collective, and San Francisco Playhouse.
