Heather is thrilled to be back in her most frequented character niche: terrible mothers. Other terrible mothers she played before turning forty include Rose in Gypsy (Sierra Repertory Theatre, Broadway by the Bay), Margaret White in Carrie (Ray of Light Theatre), Mrs. Bennet in Pride & Prejudice: A New Musical (Theatre Works Silicon Valley), Big Edie/Little Edie in Grey Gardens (Custom Made Theatre Company), and Stepmother in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Sierra Repertory Theatre). She’s also played Mother Superior in Sister Act twice (Berkeley Playhouse, Broadway by the Bay), and various other maiden aunts, teachers, and women’s prison matrons going all the way back to middle school. She remains ambivalent about having finally aged into these roles.
