Tanika Baptiste

Tanika (she, they) is making her San Francisco Playhouse debut! She is a proud auntie, sister, and daughter with roots from New Orleans and Trinidad. Tanika is a San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle award recipient who works as a director, actor, vocalist, and costume designer in the Bay Area. Regional credits include a Shirelle in Beautiful: The Carol King Musical (Woodminster Summer Musicals), MC in THE Ni¿¿ER LOVERS (Magic Theatre), the roles of She and Angie in Is God Is (Oakland Theater Project), Tessie Tura in Gypsy (Mountain Play and Ross Valley Players), Swing in Beehive: The 60’s Musical (Center REPertory Theatre), SBF 1 in Single Black Female (Lorraine Hansberry Theatre), Deloris in Sister Act (Pittsburg Theatre Company), and Effie in Dreamgirls (Berkeley Playhouse). Select directorial credits include Crumbs from the Table of Joy (Town Hall Theatre Company), Giraffes Can’t Dance (Bay Area Children’s Theatre), and At the Wake of a Dead Drag Queen (Theatre Rhinoceros). Tanika is a member of the 2023 cohort of the Theatre Bay Area Arts Leadership Residency with Theatre Rhinoceros and a proud member of Actors Equity Association and new Stage Directors and Choreographers Society member. “Thank you Margo, San Francisco Playhouse, and this amazing team!
