Nicole Helfer is an award-winning choreographer, director, performing artist, and Assistant Chair of the School of Theatre at Oakland School for the Arts. She received her BA and teaching credential from San Francisco State University. With over 20 years experience in the Bay Area theatre scene, Nicole has worked with such well-known theatre companies as Broadway By The Bay, Center Rep, 42nd Street Moon, Ray of Light, Contra Costa Musical Theatre, The Mountain Play, Throckmorton Theatre, Bay Area Children’s Theatre and Pacific Coast Reparatory Theatre. Notable choreography credits include Dames At Sea (SFBATCC nominee), Aida, Saturday Night Fever, West Side Story (TBA Award), In the Heights (TBA Award), No No Nanette (TBA and SFBATCC Award nominee), Tarzan (Shellie Award nominee), The Music Man, Lizzie (SFBATCC nominee), Rock of Ages, and Grease. Featured performance credits include: Marian in The Music Man, Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie, Fantine in Les Miserables (Shellie Award winner), Betty in Sunset Blvd (Shellie nominee), Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Shellie nominee), Val in A Chorus Line, and Velma Kelly in Chicago (SFBATCC nominee). Nicole is delighted to make her SF Playhouse debut and work with this amazing team of artists!
