The Playhouse has become, since 2007, my artistic home. And I can’t think of any family with whom I’d rather embark on this journey.

San Francisco Playhouse and its supporters have allowed me to do my best artistic work while being a present and engaged parent—which, let me tell you, is no easy task.

Because of their unwavering support, we were able to develop Ideation from a sprawling two-act play into the script it is today. And now with a new commission underway, and Ideation’s off-Broadway transfer gearing up, I’d say my family and I have a lot to be thankful for.

This week, I became the company’s first-ever Playwright-in-Residence, a title that I am overwhelmed to accept. And with just one week left in their season, the hour feels right to share the news with you—my friends, my family, and my most essential collaborators.

Now let’s show New York what we’re made of!
